In 2017, Prof. Ronan Mullan designed and implemented an ultrasound guided biopsy programme in the Bone and Joint Unit, Tallaght Hospital. In collaboration with Prof. Ursula Fearon, Ms. Sian Cregan implemented the first wet-lab tissue culture programme at Tallaght Hospital, utilizing the facilities provided by the newly refurbished Meath Foundation Research Laboratory. The on-site translational molecular Rheumatology research and bio-banking programme at Tallaght contributes to research programmes across the Meath Foundation Research Lab, Tallaght and Trinity Biomedical Sciences Institute in TCD, involving local research partnerships with Prof Fearon, with Mr John Quinlan, Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and Professor Seamas Donnelly, Department of Respiratory Medicine, as well as national and international collaborations.
