Dr. Órla Tynan

Órla is a post-doctoral researcher in the Molecular Rheumatology group. Her current work is centered on investigating different stromal cell phenotypes and the reduction of their inflammatory profiles in rheumatoid and psoriatic arthritis. She completed her PhD in Clinical Medicine in 2025 under the supervision of Professor Ursula Fearon, in which she focused in on examining the differential pathogenic mechanisms driving Rheumatoid arthritis and Psoriatic arthritis, with particular emphasis on fibroblast subsets and their impact on disease progression.

Before starting in this lab, Órla completed a four year BSc in Human Health and Disease at Trinity College Dublin. As part of her final year thesis, she undertook a three month research project with Prof. Fearon, subsequently receiving funding from Prof. Fearon’s Start-up Research Funding to complete her PhD in the Molecular Rheumatology Department.
