Aenea is a post-doctoral researcher in the Molecular Rheumatology group, currently working on reducing inflammatory functions of macrophages and T cells in rheumatoid arthritis. She recently completed her PhD in Clinical Medicine under the supervision of Prof. Ursula Fearon, during which she studied how distinct fibroblast subsets can contribute to disease pathogenesis in psoriatic arthritis and rheumatoid arthritis.
Before joining this lab, Aenea completed her Bachelor’s in Biology and Mathematics at Durham University in 2020, and a Master’s in Immunology at Trinity College Dublin in 2021. She previously worked as a research assistant for a year in the Tuberculosis Immunology research group. There her research focused on how macrophage metabolism can be modulated by inflammatory signals.
